Living… room, for example. Or living and enjoying my new nice apartment – although the living-room is still unfinished. Same as the kitchen, actually.

Anyway, those are the two rooms you won’t find in the pics. Cuz’ that’s the point of this post: as I already mentioned in my couch information in couchsurfing, I’ve uploaded some more pics of my place to show what it looks like now. You know how to get there, don’t you? (I mean to my flickr albums). Well, if you don’t, I may make a suggestion: click on the pic I’ve included here… ;o)

Claro, living se puede traducir por estar, si quieres decir cuarto de estar, por ejemplo. Si no, significa vivir – disfrutando de mi pisito de portada, aunque volviendo sobre el cuarto de estar, éste y la cocina son las habitaciones que, de hecho, me falta por terminar.

Así que esas serán las dos habitaciones que no encontraréis en las fotos, de momento. Y es que esa es la razón de este artículo: como menciono en mi información en couchsurfing, he colgado algunas fotos más de mi apartamento para mostrar su aspecto actual. Sabes cómo llegar, ¿no? (Me refiero a cómo llegar a mis álbumes en flickr). Bueno, si no lo sabes, puedo sugerirte que simplemente pinches en la foto que acompaña a este texto… ;o)

Yes, if you have a look at Kenneth’s blog and photolog, y’all’ll see our recent adventures. We took part in the WNBR (World Naked Bike Ride or something like it) in Madrid, despite the rain of that day. And we went to the US again, visiting this time New Orleans, where we had our first couchsurfing experience as surfers (thank you, Darryl!).

By the way, y’all is accepted as natural in many places, but… y’all’ll? Honestly, I made it up XD

Couchsurfing? Well, it’s a website and a project devoted to promote travelling and broadening your horizons without spending too much - or in other words, a place where you can contact people anywhere in the world you plan to visit so as to meet them when you are there (local knowledge and cultural interaction are the main values) and also, hopefully, finding a place to stay - i.e. a hospitality network. I’ve added the link right there on the right bar :oP

And yes, I know the bar, and this text bar too, looks out of its place. It is. I messed it up some time ago already and couldn’t sort it out… Hopefully I will, sometime, or I’ll have to ask my absent webmaster to do it - Fito, U there? You have me RSS-ed, don’t you?

Sí, si echáis un vistazo al blog y al photolog de Kenneth, veréis nuestras últimas aventuras. Participamos en la Ciclonudista de Madrid (World Naked Bike Ride o algo así), a pesar de la lluvia de ese día. Y volvimos a viajar a Estados Unidos, y esta vez visitamos Nueva Orleáns, donde vivimos nuestra primera experiencia de couchsurfing como huéspedes (¡gracias, Darryl!).

– El segundo párrafo no lo traduzco porque se refiere al uso de una contracción que directamente me he inventado en inglés :oP

¿Couchsurfing? ¿Y eso qué es lo que es? Pues es un sitio web y un proyecto dedicado a promover que la gente viaje y amplíe sus horizontes sin gastar demasiado - o en otras palabras, un lugar donde contactar personas de cualquier lugar del mundo donde planees viajar, para conocerlas una vez allí, principalmente para facilitar el conocimiento local de los sitios y el intercambio cultural. Y también, con un poco de suerte, para encontrar una cama donde dormir, o sea, una “red de hospitalidad”. He añadido el vínculo a la barra de la derecha, por si queréis curiosear.

Ya, ya sé que la barra, y esta misma columna de texto principal, parecen fuera de sitio, Lo están. Jorobé la plantilla de mi web hace ya algún tiempo y no fui capaz de arreglarlo… Espero poder solucionarlo algún día, o tendré que pedir que me lo arregle mi webmaster ausente - Fito, ¿estás ahí? Me recibes por RSS, ¿verdad?

¡Ya he vuelto a mi casa, mi “flamantemente” renovado apartamento! Ahora parece un sitio moderno, lleno de luz y color… y desorden, ya que todavía me queda mucho por hacer: algunos acabados de rodapiés donde han puesto las puertas de cristal, y unas cuantas estanterías y muebles de cocina por montar. Así que todavía hay herramientas y cajas por aquí…

Sea como sea, para mí ya es “el hogar”, y eso es lo que cuenta! Incluso voy a recibir mis primeros couchsurfers en breve.

Pero no, eso no significa que haya vuelto para publicar con regularidad - ¿cuándo he sido yo regular? Esto es un arranque, que esperemos venga seguido por otros materiales; pero la verdad, ahora mismo tengo otras prioridades ;o)

Así que ahí queda, quizás para el próximo texto incluya alguna foto de algún nuevo armario de cocina - no dejéis de visitarme… Gracias y saludos!

I am already back in my place, my brand-newly refurbished apartment! Now it looks modern, colourful… and messy, since I still have a lot of work ahead - some finishing around the glass doors and some bookshelves and kitchen cabinets to build. Which means there are still tools and boxes around…

Anyway, it already looks like a home to me, and that’s what I care! I am going to have my first couchsurfers here, even.

But no, that does not mean I am back to regularly posting - when have I been regular at that, anyway? This is a kick-start, hopefully some more material will come, but honestly, I have other priorities at the moment ;o)

So that’s it, maybe I’ll have a pic of one of my new cabinets for the next post, just keep visiting… Cheers!

No, esta vez no traduzco el título porque no puedo traducirlo de los dos modos que querría al mismo tiempo: aún congelado, y quieto, helado. Más o menos. O, en otras palabras, con el frío del invierno y la estaticidad de este sitio que lleva ya tiempo sin avanzar.

Un resumen de los porqués, para que entendáis a qué me refiero: espera, frío, lluvia, navidad, mudanza, portátil, reforma, acceso, medios, casa, familia. Claro, ¿verdad? Pues eso. Que aún os pido paciencia antes de que continúe añadiendo textos con un mínimo de substancia y mis viejas narraciones y contenidos a este sitio.

Esta entrada es un desastre de estilo. Soy consciente.

Todo llega; pero algunas cosas se hacen esperar…

The title is this time only in English, because with or without a comma the meaning changes and both meanings play a role in today´s post. I mean, cold winter and the static site this has been for a while already.

Summarizing the whys, here you are: wait, cold, rain, xmas, move, laptop, refurbishment, access, media, home, family. Clear, isn’t it? That is: I still ask you for patience before I go on posting any meaningful anything and adding my past tales and other contents to the website.

This post is a display of poor style, I acknowledge.

Everything arrives in the end, though some things take their time…

Yes, a while since I posted last… I moved back to Madrid, and I ain´t back in my apartment yet, so I do not have my stuff handy. Gimme some more time, this is just like a break - couple months or so :oP

Sí, llevo algún tiempo ya sin publicar nada… Volví a Madrid; pero aún no a mi piso, así que no tengo mis cosas tan a mano, de momento. Dame un respiro, esto no es más que eso, un descansito - un par de meses o así :oP

Un aniversario especial

Ayer fue el veinticinco aniversario de La bola de cristal, un programa de televisión que ha marcado a toda una generación. Y en esa generación estoy yo. Gracias, Lolo Rico, gracias, Alaska, gracias, electroduendes… Ojalá la infancia de hoy en día tuviera una influencia equivalente, que les ayudase a abrir los ojos al universo, a la libertad…

Yesterday, a Spanish TV show called La bola de cristal celebrated its 25th anniversary (it was on air for about five years, but it was on the 6th of October of 1984 when we could see it on TV for the first time). Above, in the text in Spanish, you can find a link to the piece of news, but it is in Spanish.

Anyway, this show impacted a whole generation in Spain. And I am a member of that generation. I can only say thankyou to all those who made it possible. I think the present children are lacking such an influence to help them open their eyes to the universe, to freedom…

Progress in work

En los últimos días he preparado y subido algunas más de las obras de Textos del Kaos. Así que ya podéis encontrar listadas la segunda parte de la Trilogía de la vida (la titulada He levantado mi vida una y otra vez, y de nuevo la he vuelto a destruir) y varios de mis textos más conceptuales, en que la forma es parte del fondo, del mensaje. Son esas piezas que, en su día, Keoki calificó de frikadas. Cuando en la lista de Textos del Kaos aparezca Cerró de nuevo la ventana, podréis ver el comentario que dejó al respecto. Así que, poco a poco, este proyectito mío sigue creciendo…
Ayer, tuve la genial idea de echar un vistazo a la apariencia de mis contenidos en Explorer. Quizás debería aclarar que yo uso Mac, así que mi navegador natural es Safari. Y el asunto empeora si os cuento que también K es de Mac, y que los dos amigos que más probablemente me podrían haber aconsejado en este tipo de asuntos, Keoki e Il Pablino (también conocido como Mr Minijuegos), también tienen Macs. En fin, el hecho es que uno tiende a pensar que escribiendo, como es mi caso, html en un nivel muy básico y con el cogollo de todo el sitio web construido sobre WordPress, los requerimientos de Explorer quedarían más que cubiertos - al fin y al cabo, todo lo que encuentras por ahí está pensado para encajar con los estándares de Microsoft, más que con los estándares compartidos por la industria. Bueno, pues no. Cuando abrí esta misma página en Explorer, resultó que tiene un aspecto desastroso. Y después de un rato de navegar por el sitio, sencillamente llegué a la conclusión de que, aparte de poner un poco más de cuidado y hacer algún chequeo de vez en cuando con distintos navegadores, lo que tengo que hacer es aumentar el nivel de detalle al escribir mi html, y cuantificar todos los parámetros que pueda con valores absolutos. Por ejemplo, los bordes, las fotos… todo lo que se pueda medir en píxeles, deberé especificarlo en píxeles. Bueno, al menos espero que así esto adquiera un aspecto más limpito. Así que, para terminar, sólo quiero disculparme por el aspecto actual del sitio con los usuarios de Explorer (¿no habéis pensado en cambiaros a Linux o a Mac?) y prometeros que, poquito a poco, intentaré actualizar todos los contenidos para que tengan mejor aspecto en los distintos navegadores. Eso sí, como siempre: darme argo de tiempo, porfa.

Yesterday, I had the great idea of having a look at the way my contents look like in Explorer. Maybe I should clarify that I am a Mac user, so my natural browser is Safari. Besides, the problem grows bigger if I tell you that also K is a Mac user, and that the two friends that more easily could have given me some professional advice in this stuff, i.e. Keoki and Il Pablino (AKA Mr Minijuegos), are also into Mac. Whatever. The fact is that one would anyway think that writing pretty basic html for my own files and keeping the core of the website powered by WordPress, one would be guaranteed to be complying with Explorer’s requirements - anyway, nothing in the market is designed to comply with the industry standards but with Microsoft standards instead. Well now, the answer is no. When I opened this page with Explorer, it looked like a mess. And after a while of browsing around the site, I simply came to the conclusion that, apart from being more careful and running some testing with different browsers every now and then, what I must do is to get down to the basics and define every parameter in absolute figures, as much as possible. E.g. borders, picture sizes… anything that may be measured in pixels, I must specify the pixels. Good, at least I guess this way everything here should look tidier. So I just want to finish apologizing for the present appearance of the site to all those that use Explorer (have you thought of changing over to Linux or Mac?) and promise that, little by little, I will try to update all the contents to make them look nicer in different browsers. As always: gimme time, please.

Yesterday’s News (ninguna novedad)

I have kept links to some pieces of news, old already, but interesting whatsoever (or had I better said anyway?). There is this, for example, about women in Rwanda’s Parliament, which by the way is from The Washington Post, so it is in English.

And then, there is this other about a best-seller written on toilet paper (yes, on that paper, so it´s a once readable only novel…). This one in Spanish.

So they are one message of hope and one just amusing, I guess. And just to put some more color in this post, see below some youtube clips of commercial-but-artistic events taking place in public crowded places. I think they are an awsome way of demonstrating how art in motion (or lacking motion too) can really make our day every now and then. I love them, specially the Do-Re-Mi at the Belgian station!!

Tenía guardados un par de vínculos a noticias que, aunque ya estén pasadas, siguen teniendo interés, en mi opinión. Está esta, por ejemplo, sobre el papel que han alcanzado las mujeres en el Parlamento de Ruanda. Es del Washington Post, así que está en inglés.

Y esta otra es sobre una novela a punto de convertirse en best-seller, publicada en papel higiénico (exacto, una novela de un solo uso). Esta la tengo referenciada del Hola (qué pasa), así que está en español.

Supongo que, resumiendo, estoy conservando un texto de esperanza, y otro simplemente curioso. Y para terminar con una nota de color, aquí os dejo unos videos de youtube mostrando situaciones con fines comerciales, vale, pero a la vez artísticas, en lugares típicamente abarrotados. Creo que son una forma maravillosa de demostrar cómo el arte en movimiento (o incluso sin movimiento alguno) realmente puede cambiarnos el día. Personalmente, me fascinan; el del Do-Re-Mi en la estación belga, el que más!!

Well, what I mean is that I know that what I keep developing for the other pages of the site, like Khaostories, or the rest of links under Pages, on the right sidebar, is not so obvious, not so straightforward to track. And that is why I keep advertising it through posts here - the Work in progress ones.

So this is it: an advertisement, an invitation for you to visit the other sections. I have recently started to load my first compilation of short stories, and today, also the second. They are Those Little Pieces of Death, and the already mentioned Khaostories. (I know, I know, most of the contents are only in Spanish, but that is my mother tongue, so what would you expect?).

The other thing I know is that, despite my choice of allowing coments everywhere, that does not seem to work elsewhere than here, in the main blog page. So if you wish to comment on anything - anything really -, please do so in the latest entry you find here at anytime, ok? Actually, your comments are more than welcome, and I am serious. It is important for me to see that someone reads my stuff, good or bad…

If you see that your comment is not immediately posted, you see, it is because the anti-spam control is on. Which means that most comments will be posted only after my approval. But do not think I am for any kind of censorship: I will approve your comments regardless how cruel (or even wrong :oP ) I may think they are. The control is truly only intended to avoid spam. Lo que el título quiere decir es que soy consciente de que lo que voy incorporando en las otras páginas del sitio, como Textos del Kaos o demás vínculos en la zona de Pages, en la barra lateral derecha, no es tan evidente - es más complicado que lo podáis seguir al día. Por eso lo voy publicitando aquí, mediante las entradas categorizadas como Work in progress.

Sí, eso es esta entrada: un anuncio, y una invitación para que visitéis las otras secciones. Hace pocos días, empecé a subir contenidos a mi primera compilación de narraciones breves y, hoy mismo, también a la segunda. Son Esos pedacitos de muerte y la ya mencionada Textos del Kaos. La mayoría de contenidos está en español - para algo es mi idioma nativo.

Otra cosa que sé es que, a pesar de haber optado en todas las áreas del sitio por permitir comentarios, esta opción no parece funcionar nada más que aquí, en las entradas de la página principal. Si quieres dejar un comentario, sobre lo que sea, hazlo en la entrada más reciente que encuentres aquí, por favor. De hecho, y lo digo en serio, cualquier comentario es más que bienvenido. Es importante para mí comprobar que hay alguien que lee lo que publico, bueno o malo y para bien o para mal.

Si ves que el comentario no sale inmediatamente publicado, se debe a que tengo activado el control anti-spam. Lo que implica que la mayoría de comentarios sólo se publican una vez que yo los apruebo.
